About HFES USC Student Chapter

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) at USC is an organization where students (from all fields) can learn about the field of Ergonomics and interact with faculty and guest speakers while creating a close-knit relationship with other members. In general, we will bring several guest speakers and plan different activities with other HFES chapters across Los Angeles. This all helps bring more awareness into this field of study and shines a light into current research projects, discoveries, and future ideas regarding Human Factors and Ergonomics. Feel free to explore this website for more information, and for any other questions, don't hesitate to e-mail hfesatusc@gmail.com.

Our Mission

The USC HFES Chapter's mission is to promote the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds. The objectives are:

  • To further serious consideration of knowledge about the assignment of appropriate functions for humans and machines, whether people serve as operators, maintainers, or users in the system.

  • To advocate systematic use of such knowledge to achieve compatibility in the design of interactive systems of people, machines, and environments to ensure their effectiveness, safety, and ease of performance
